A 20-minute read that will save you YEARS of costly skincare mistakes. Not to mention, this precious, skin-saving information is nowhere to be found on Google or social media!
Unfortunately, it’s all too common to unintentionally harm our skin barrier with misguided skincare practices. Your skincare should be a harmonious partnership with your skin, not a battle against it.
People often imagine a damaged skin barrier as bright red, flaky, irritated skin. However, this extreme level of damage is rare. Much more commonly, breakouts and “purging” are mistaken for a chronically inflamed skin barrier—one that keeps perpetuating acne over time.
Yes, these are the same beautiful ladies as above — just several months later. 💕 My amazing clients who have healed their years-long acne using my approach! 🌟
Red, rashy patches and conditions like rosacea and perioral dermatitis are manifestations of a significantly inflamed skin barrier.
This can sometimes go hand in hand with dryness, and can also be a sign of an imbalanced skin microbiome.
Dryness is very persistent despite all the hydrating serums and rich moisturizers you are using. Your skin is never feeling moisturized on its own (like when you first wake up in the morning).
A damaged skin barrier can sometimes manifest as dehydrated, yet oily skin. This happens because the skin overproduces oils in the attempt to prevent further water loss.
When the skin barrier function is impaired, its healing abilities are slow and impaired too. Also, if you are currently going through a purging phase that seems to have no end, you are just breaking out.
Dehydration and the accelerated breakdown of collagen and elastin are both linked to a damaged skin barrier.
A damaged skin barrier is leaky, so unwanted substances can more easily penetrate the skin and trigger the immune response (raising inflammation). You may be at a point where you can barely use any skincare products without causing a reaction or more acne.

You have two options:
Buy it on Amazon as an ebook. This is my preferred way because it is easier to read on a Kindle. You can also read it on your Amazon virtual cloud reader, or download a free Kindle app to your smartphone or a tablet and read that way! Simply purchase the book via Amazon, and the book will be sent to your device.
Purchase the mini online course that has the SAME lessons and text as the ebook on Amazon. You will be able to read it on your laptop or smartphone once you are enrolled in the course.
In addition to reading on your Kindle device or Kindle app, you can also enjoy your ebook directly in a web browser on your laptop or smartphone. After purchasing the ebook on Amazon, revisit the book's product page. On the right-hand side, you'll see a notification confirming that you already own the item. Simply click the "Read Now" button, and a new browser tab will open, allowing you to start reading your ebook instantly!
After you purchase the mini online course, you will have immediate and lifetime access to all the lessons and can start implementing them immediately!
Nope, not nearly! The book is mainly focused on the health of your skin barrier and can be applied by everyone, while the course talks much more in detail about how to heal adult acne, hyperpigmentation and slow down skin aging. Of course, the skin barrier health portion is also included in the Skin Rebalancing Protocol, but there is some extra insight about skincare in the book that isn’t currently in the course (like purging, potency of products, etc).
The book it isn’t necessary if you already have my Skin Rebalancing Protocol, but you might find some extra useful information and more “aha” moments! 🙂
You could definitely get the book first and do that routine for 2 weeks, and see how it goes. Just helping your skin barrier can also help acne. However, many people will need additional strategies specific for acne that I explain inside the Skin Rebalancing Protocol.
Healing your skin barrier is the absolute first step no matter which skin concern you are trying to solve. Healing your skin barrier might also help you completely heal your skin concern (for example, dryness), but it isn’t the norm when it comes to healing adult acne, scarring and hyperpigmentation. For that, you need my Skin Rebalancing Protocol. I recommend following the routine in the book for 2 weeks or longer to heal your skin barrier, then you will see if you need more support after that.
Yes, there are exact routine steps and product recommendations that you should be able to access no matter where you are in the world! I highly recommend reading the entire book to understand which routine modifications will work best for you.
The routine outlined in the book is easily customizable to include products and DIY options that you have available no matter where you are in the world. Furthermore, I explain in the book how to select your products, and you can use that knowledge to buy the best products that are available to you.
After the ebook has been available only on Amazon for a while, I wanted to offer it in some other format for those of you who cannot access the Amazon ebook for whatever reason. So, the content in them is exactly the SAME. Still, if you want to have both and you have purchased it on Amazon, you can send me an email with the confirmation to sara@healthyskinglows.com and I will enroll you into the course as well. On the other hand, I CANNOT provide you with the ebook on Amazon if you have purchased the course.
